Chapel Hill Investment Advisors subscribes to the following research services. Most of the work provided by these firms is available for a fee, but several also offer some information free.

BCA BCA Research provides regular analysis and forecasts of global markets, business conditions and investment prospects. The company makes its research available to clients through various publications and services, consulting arrangements and conferences.

GMO Grantham, Mayo Van Otterloo & Co., LLC, founded in 1977, is a privately held global investment management and research firm servicing clients in the corporate, public, endowment and foundation marketplaces. GMO manages $63 billion in client assets using a blend of traditional judgments with quantitative methods to find undervalued securities and markets. Their research services are founded on several key factors that include: discipline, value orientation, investment research and constant innovation.

NDR Ned Davis Research has one of the most comprehensive research product offerings available focusing on economics and technical analysis. Their focus includes economic, valuation, sentiment, and monetary services and provides studies covering domestic and international markets, the economy, industry groups, and mutual funds. The firm has a dedicated staff, which verifies data from over 150 third-party data vendors - maintaining one of the largest and cleanest databases in the industry.

S&P Standard & Poor’s is the world’s largest independent investment research firm, offering rigorous analyses, timely and objective opinions, and proprietary methodologies. Their weekly publication, S&P Outlook, provided in print and online, is quite reasonably priced for the quality of commentary and research.

Morningstar Morningstar offers more objective research on actively managed mutual funds and Exchanged Traded Funds than any other website. The firm offers tools for analyzing fund portfolios as well as research on individual funds.

Peter Bernstein is one of our favorite deep thinkers. At age 85, he is widely viewed as the dean of investment counselors. He is the author of eight well-regarded books on investing. He is the founding editor of the Journal of Portfolio Management, the first academic magazine to focus on investment decision-making. He was a successful money manager. Over the course of his distinguished career, nearly every award the investment profession has to offer has been presented to him.

His semi-monthly Economics and Portfolio Strategy report is widely read among institutional investors. This site provides some of his writings for free.

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis

The St. Louis Fed site is one of the best sources of economic data on the web. Here is all the economic news that is fit to print! There is more information here than you can read in a week. It is well organized and includes research, educational, news, and statistical publications.
